Yogurt Brûlée with Blueberries

This breakfast treat looks so elegant, your family will think it took hours instead of minutes to prepare. You can also serve this as dessert, but caution is advised: You may be tempted to eat dessert first!

Recipe information

  • Yield

serves 4, 1 cup per serving

Ingredients

2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries, thawed if frozen, patted dry
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups fat-free vanilla yogurt
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons light brown sugar

Preparation

  1. Step 1

Preheat the broiler. Put four 1-cup custard cups or ramekins on a broilerproof baking sheet.

    Step 2

In a medium bowl, stir together the blueberries, cinnamon, and vanilla. Spoon 1/2 cup mixture into each custard cup. Top each with about 1/2 cup yogurt and 2 teaspoons brown sugar.

    Step 3

Broil about 4 inches from the heat for 2 to 4 minutes, or until the sugar is melted and bubbly. Watch carefully to keep the sugar from burning.
