Papaya Pineapple Smoothie

Both papaya and pineapple have a lot of enzymes that aid digestion. If you’re having digestive difficulty, drinking some of this smoothie before a meal will help lessen bloating and indigestion.

    makes 3 1/4 cups

Ingredients

1/4 cup chopped papaya
2 cups chopped fresh pineapple
8 ice cubes
1 cup rice milk or almond milk
1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup coconut milk
1 tablespoon finely ground flaxseeds
1/2 teaspoon freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 teaspoon maple syrup

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Serve immediately.

    Add 1 tablespoon of unrefined virgin coconut oil for additional healthy fat and calories.

    Step 3

    For more protein, add a scoop of whey protein powder.

    Step 4

    If you use frozen fruit, leave out the ice cubes as the smoothie will be thick enough without them.

    Store in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for 2 days. Shake well again before serving.

    Papayas have vitamin C, which is an antioxidant and may also reduce absorption of cancer-causing nitrosamines. They also contain folic acid, which has been shown to minimize cervical dysplasia and certain cancers.
