  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Trim crusts and cut six slices of white sandwich bread into 1/4-inch cubes. Toss bread with 1 tablespoon melted unsalted butter on a rimmed baking sheet. Toast in oven, tossing once, until pale golden, 9 to 10 minutes. Toss with a tablespoon of chopped herbs, such as parsley, basil, or marjoram, before using. Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days.
